My name is Ertugrul Sevtap, and I’ve been immersed in the world of wine for over two decades—not just as a profession, but as a way of life.

What started as curiosity grew into an obsession: understanding vineyards, soils, fermentation, and the countless small decisions that shape a wine. Over the years, I’ve worked hands-on in vineyards and cellars, constantly refining my approach—learning, unlearning, and learning again. For me, wine is never static. There is always something deeper to explore, whether it’s viticulture, winemaking, or even how food and wine come together at the table.

I don’t claim perfection—only progress. Every vintage is another opportunity to become a better viticulturist, a more thoughtful winemaker, and honestly, even a better cook. The process is what I love most: the early mornings in the vineyard, the long days during harvest, and the quiet moments tasting and evaluating what nature and effort have created together.

Recently, my journey has taken me beyond California to Europe. This transition has opened a new chapter—one filled with old vines, ancient soils, and traditions that go back centuries. It feels like being a kid in a candy shop: endless regions to explore, producers to learn from, and wines to understand.

Through projects like Camino al Vino, I’m sharing that journey—discovering small producers, telling their stories, and continuing to expand my own perspective along the way. At the same time, I’m developing the next phase of my own winemaking, bringing together everything I’ve learned so far with everything I have yet to discover.

At the end of the day, it’s simple: I love what I do. And I’m still just getting started.
